Metrowater to Begin Work on India Sewerage Project

The Chennai metropolitan water supply and sewerage board (Metrowater) is to invest $9.5bn ($219m) in improving drainage and waste disposal in the Indian city of Chennai and its suburbs.

The utility will set up underground sewage systems, build pumping stations and sewage treatment plants, and lay manholes in the region.

In addition, three sewage treatment plants will be set up with a combined capacity of 234 million litres per day to treat the city’s sewage, reports the Times of India.
