12th December 2003 – PROline Prosonic Flow by Endress+Hauser, an ultrasonic flowmeter, is particularly practical to install as both sensors of the system are simply attached to the exterior wall of a pipe; that is, the pipe does not have to be opened.
Even in places that are difficult to access, measuring-points may be installed or retrofitted. The device may even be installed or replaced during operations.
This system is suitable for pipe diameters up to 4000 mm and for most materials used to manufacture pipes such as carbon steel, cast-iron pipes with cement or rubber lining, etc. That’s why it is typically used for water and waste-water applications but also for industrial process engineering.
The flow rate is determined on the basis of the run-time difference method. High-performance electronics processes measured values taking into account all relevant
application data and support initial operations by the user: precise instructions for mounting permit a perfect integration of the system thanks to its sophisticated mechanical
design. The electronics part is available either wall-mounted or in a field housing.
It is easily integrated into a superset automated solution, too; e.g. with the help of a field-bus system. Electronics and sensors are also available in hazardous-area versions and,
therefore, suitable for ambient temperatures between -40 °C and +170 °C.
